The Director, Business Development will lead a highly specialized function focused on identifying, evaluating, and qualifying business opportunities. This role is strategic, designed to:

  • Develop and execute strategies to maintain a steady flow of qualified leads from various sources.
  • Lead outbound lead generation efforts to build a healthy pipeline during periods of low inbound volume.
  • Analyze and validate market intelligence to identify high-value prospects and new business.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to refine pipeline strategies and align lead qualification efforts with business goals.
  • Implement lead qualification frameworks and scoring methodologies to optimize efficiency and conversion.
  • Oversee data management across the sales lifecycle, ensuring accurate sourcing, curation, and maintenance of global lead data in CRM and associated marketing systems.
  • Manage a team of Business Development Managers, fostering best practices in lead engagement and pipeline management.

As part of our global expansion, we are forming a Business Development team in Hyderabad. This team will ensure a strong pipeline of opportunities aligned with our global expertise.

The Role

Key Responsibilities:

Outbound Lead Generation and Inbound Lead Qualification (50%)

  • Assess and qualify inbound leads from marketing campaigns, conferences, and website inquiries.
  • Conduct proactive outbound outreach through email, LinkedIn, and industry networking
  • Implement a lead scoring system based on strategic fit, urgency, and engagement level.
  • Lead and oversee introductory client discussions to understand their needs.
  • Develop KPIs for lead conversion rates, response times, and opportunity progression.


Market Intelligence & Pipeline Expansion (25%)

  • Identify new client opportunities through competitive analysis, industry trends, and market intelligence.
  • Engage with key industry stakeholders, regulatory bodies, and relevant associations to build pipeline.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to develop thought leadership content and positioning strategies.


Data Management & CRM Ownership (15%)

  • Own and manage the process of sourcing, curating, and maintaining global lead data.
  • Ensure data hygiene and accurate segmentation within CRM and marketing automation tools.
  • Support continuous improvements in sales analytics and reporting.


Cross-Functional Collaboration & Leadership (10%)

  • Participate in cross-functional discussions across practice, commercial solutions and marketing.
  • Provide insights into pipeline trends, market needs, and client expectations.

Requirements

Qualifications & Experience:

Education

  • Bachelor's or Master’s in Life Sciences, Regulatory Affairs, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Healthcare Strategy, or Business Analytics.


Experience Requirements

  • 10+ years in Lead Qualification, Market Intelligence, or Business Strategy within the Life Sciences sector.
  • Deep knowledge of Regulatory Affairs, Market Access, Quality, and Clinical Development.
  • Experience in a CRO, consultancy, or Life Sciences advisory role is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in CRM platforms (Salesforce, HubSpot) and lead qualification methodologies.
  • Strong experience engaging with senior decision-makers within BioPharma, MedTech, and Life Sciences organizations.
